METAL ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (DMLS)
Our state-of the-art metal additive manufacturing department houses three Direct Metal Laser Sintering systems.
With decades of experience in a wide range of other 3D Printing technologies, CA Models added metal additive manufacturing to our range of services in 2012.
Since then, we have conducted intensive R&D and invested heavily to build our versatile metal additive manufacturing capabilities. Today we operate three of the largest capacity DMLS printers in the world, each printing with a unique metal powder.
Machinery & Materials
Our metal additive manufacturing department offers the capacity and flexibility our clients demand. As well as having three of the largest Metal Laser Sintering machines on the market today, they each run a different material with unique properties, including:
Key Benefits
At CA Models, we are able to combine advanced metal 3D printing technology with our other industry leading services, such as CNC machining, inspection and inhouse R&D, to enhance the benefits to our clients. Including:
- Freedom of design: enabling parts with complex geometries and internal channels impossible to achieve with conventional methods
- Optimal strength to weight ratios: incorporating intricate and robust internal structures directly within the part itself
- Material efficiency: achieving minimal wastage thanks to our in-house powder recycling facility keeping material costs down
- High precision: in-house post machining can be applied to features with tight tolerances, down to +/-0.005mm
- Post processing: A wide range of post-processing options for metal 3D printed parts are available on-site
- Large scale components: the BIG benefit of having the largest systems available on the market, offering 500mm X-axis prints
Applications
Thanks to the flexibility of design, the ability to accurately print repeatable parts, and the unique properties of the materials available – typical applications for our Metal Laser Sintering machines include:
- Complex metal prototypes
- Series production parts with no tooling requirement
- Parts of high geometrical complexity which cannot by produced by conventional manufacturing methods
